building features
As this particular site has offered us some pretty extreme hurdles and limitations, it has challenged us to think outside the box in terms of building materials and methods. Always with the design objectives in mind, Corban has researched and sourced some pretty innovative products to help us achieve this unique house build.
A UNIQUE BUILD
The build plans have been strongly influenced by the difficulty of the site. This has encouraged us to think beyond a standard build practice and instead question how we can get the best results by using some not so standard product and design.
The land preparation is a good starting point, and you can hear all about that in this blog post ‘Land Preparation’
The structure of the building has used a panel product instead of your standard framing, and the rest of the structure has been designed to encompass the entire view that is on offer so we have factored in a lot more glass than a standard home would allow.
Another key objective is that the house is thermally efficient. We have done this in three fundamental ways. Externally insulated the roof and all of the external walls, we’ve used the Maxraft Insulated system that retains heat from the ground up, and used some of the highest spec glass in the world. We will explain further as the project progresses.
